Boomgono

“Boom” comes from Baby Boomer. Gono comes from the Greek “zoogono:” animate, liven, vitalize, vivify.
Are you Boomgono?
Boomgono is here as our common voice. The persona of our shared experiences and nonnegotiable values. Boomgono is our foibles, our fears, our sense of humor.
We’ve created a character for Boomgono to remind us of our shared pursuit: to find new ways to experience the world. Everyday, every moment. Playfully, energetically, and always in discovery.
We call these Boomzaa moments. And over on Facebook page, we’re celebrating Boomgono’s arrival by collecting Boomzaa moments. Click here to celebrate with us, and we might send you a t-shirt. Like this one.

In a practical way, Boomgono will write blog posts, provide tips and guidance, and remind us of our connectedness.
And we’re creating this Boomgono voice with you – we don’t want to impose it.
So please use the comment section at the end of this page to tell us what Boomgono means to you. Here are a few thoughts to get the juices flowing:
We are Boomgono. And our time has come again.
Time for new futures. Transformation. This time, our future, will be every bit as important as the world’s. Because we’ve learned that change starts with me and flows outward.
We are wise enough to try, fail, and laugh. To say, “I don’t know” – OUT LOUD (which is discovery, after all). The new futures we pursue today may be elusive, but they will happen. We know this because we’ve been here before.
Yesterday we pursued careers. Raised children. Paid for their college. And we saved resources for today - our time to reenter. Pursue newly. We’re ready to see the world through our new lenses, but we also plan to enjoy it even more this time. We’ll learn new languages or just learn enough to be polite. We’ll travel to volunteer in Africa or we’ll just go to the beach. We’ll explore unknown markets or we’ll return to the standby hotel, only this time with a new sense of how to experience it.
We seek the power of social networks, even if that term has changed. We know they keep us enlivened. Invigorated. Supported. We’ll find each other again. Like virtual expats in a new land.
We lead movements or have simple conversations of discovery.
We demand authenticity in all the things we buy and in which we invest – we’ve invested much of ourselves in what we’ve saved and now we seek ways to reinvest as much as we spend. We want our transactions to transform. Us, our world.
We’re rediscovering our bodies. We run marathons or we simply walk a mile a day. We do Yoga or we just stretch our legs in the morning to get the kinks out.
What are we discovering - or for some of us, rediscovering? Simple: that for which we get up in the morning. It may be little or large. But we act in alignment with our values, knowing that transformation can be simply a daily process of many small steps as well as, perhaps, a life changing event.
We live for moments of fist-bumping Yes’s. The That’s It. The I Knew It.
We aren’t a market segment. We are Boomgono.
So. What about you? What does it mean to be Boomgono?
